Araghchi identifies peace, security as key goals in relations with Islamabad

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized peace and security as paramount objectives for enhancing bilateral relations with Pakistan. He articulated these goals during a meeting with Pakistan's newly appointed ambassador, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran. The discussion focused on avenues to bolster cooperation between the two neighboring nations.

The meeting between Araghchi and Siddiqui took place as diplomatic initiatives intensify to quell the recent escalation of hostilities between the United States and Iran. These efforts follow a previous understanding mediated by Islamabad, which reportedly faltered due to divergent interpretations of the agreed memorandum, particularly concerning arrangements related to the Strait of Hormuz.

Following the formal presentation of his credentials, Ambassador Siddiqui and Minister Araghchi engaged in discussions concerning the ongoing conflict with the U.S. Interior Minister Eskander Momeni was also scheduled to arrive in Islamabad for talks on the same issue.
