Archery Federation Welcomes Russian Athletes Back

Archery is the latest sport to welcome athletes from Russia back into international competition. World Archery, the sport's international governing body, announced a decision to lift previous recommendations that had limited the participation of Russian athletes.

Following a meeting of its executive committee, World Archery stated that Russian athletes and teams are now permitted to compete under their national identity at events organized by the federation. This includes major competitions such as the World Cup and the World Championships.

The federation also confirmed the removal of restrictions previously placed on the use of the Russian flag and national anthem. These changes align with a similar decision made regarding Belarusian athletes in May. However, World Archery emphasized that the participation of Russian athletes remains contingent upon their adherence to the national visa regulations of the host countries where events are held.

In a concluding statement, World Archery reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Ukrainian Archery Association and all individuals affected by the ongoing conflict. Denmark's Mathias Fullerton currently holds the number one world ranking in the compound archery discipline.
