Areguá Strawberry Expo to Officially Open Tomorrow with Ceremony and Festival

Areguá is preparing for the official inauguration of its annual Strawberry Expo, an event that celebrates local agriculture and artisanal production. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow, starting at 10:00 AM, and will include a formal protocol, the symbolic cutting of the tricolor ribbon, and a vibrant artistic festival.

Local authorities, special guests, and the participating producers will be present for the opening. The Expo Frutilla Areguá 2026 has been underway since July 5, featuring more than 80 local families who have set up stalls along Mariscal Estigarribia and La Candelaria routes, the main commercial hubs of the fair. Additional sales points are located on streets in the city center and in the Areguá-Estanzuela sector.

Visitors to the expo can find a wide array of strawberry-based products, including fresh fruit, jams, liqueurs, cakes, desserts, and ice cream, alongside other handcrafted items. Most stalls are open daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, offering ample opportunity for attendees to explore and purchase.

Norma Hidalgo, Director of Culture for the Municipality of Areguá, extended a warm invitation to the public, encouraging families to attend the opening and explore the offerings. "It is an honor for us to invite the public to the official opening of the Expo Frutilla," Hidalgo stated, highlighting the planned artistic festival and remarks from exhibitor representatives. The Expo Frutilla has been officially recognized by the National Congress as an event of National Interest, specifically under Declaration No. 500. This designation acknowledges its significant contribution to the gastronomic, productive, and cultural development of the Central Department and Paraguay as a whole. Rossan Galeano, a representative of the Areguá strawberry exhibitors, emphasized the importance of this recognition in supporting the local economy and the livelihoods of dozens of producer families.
