Argentina's Construction Activity Drops 4.1% in June Amidst Volatile Trends

Argentina's construction sector experienced a downturn in June, with activity falling by 4.1% compared to the previous month. This decline follows a notable rebound of 6.3% in May, suggesting a fluctuating performance for the industry.

Official data from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec) revealed that, despite the monthly decrease, construction activity registered a 4.0% recovery in June when compared to the same period in 2025. Over the first six months of the year, the sector accumulated a growth of 2.8%.

Employment in the construction segment showed a slight year-on-year increase of 0.8% in May, reaching 377,438 jobs. However, permits for private construction projects saw a 6.1% decrease in May compared to the previous year.

Industry sources, such as the Grupo Construya, which represents construction material producers and sellers, reported a 1.99% drop in sales in June compared to May. Year-on-year, sales worsened by 0.6%. Grupo Construya projects a slight increase in demand for construction inputs in the second half of the year, aiming to stabilize the sector's performance.
