Argentina’s Sarrafiore Salvages a Draw for Atlante Against Atlas

Martín Sarrafiore scored his second goal of the championship to give Atlante a 1-1 draw against Atlas at the Jalisco Stadium in Mexico’s Apertura 2026 tournament.

Luis Esteves gave Atlas the lead in the seventh minute with a right-footed shot. Atlas held that advantage with help from Colombian goalkeeper Camilo Vargas, who saved a penalty taken by Ecuadorian Jhojan Julio in the 35th minute.

Atlante, coached by Miguel Herrera, improved after halftime. Sarrafiore equalized in the 48th minute with a left-footed finish as Atlante controlled the second half.

The draw lifted Atlas to fifth place with four wins, one draw, two losses and 13 points, three behind leaders América. Atlante remained 14th.

Earlier, Uruguay’s Rodrigo Aguirre scored for Tigres UANL in a 1-1 draw with Necaxa. Aguirre and Necaxa’s Owen González were the scorers, leaving both teams outside the qualification places. Chivas Guadalajara defeated San Luis 3-0, while league leaders Pachuca beat Juárez FC 2-0, with Venezuela’s Salomón Rondón scoring again. Defending champions Cruz Azul were due to host Santos Laguna the following day.
