Argentine Agro-Industrial Exports to EU Soar 30% in First Half of 2026

Argentina's agro-industrial sector has seen a significant boost in its trade with the European Union, with export values climbing by 30% in the first half of 2026. This surge brought in $2.5 billion, a substantial increase from the previous year, according to data from the Ministry of Economy.

The volume of these exports also grew considerably, rising by 14% to reach 4.1 million tons. This growth reflects a strong demand for Argentine products within the EU market. Notably, the average price per ton exported to the EU was $608, a remarkable 39% higher than the average price for agro-industrial products sold to all destinations.

Several product categories experienced exceptional value increases, including sunflower (+451%), tobacco (+215%), and legumes (+167%). The report also highlighted the return of certain products to the export market, such as virgin olive oil and wood pulp. The recent implementation of the Mercosur-EU agreement, offering preferential tariffs and export quotas, is expected to further bolster these trade figures for products like honey, eggs, rice, and meat.
