Argentine-backed Sports Performance Hub in Miami secures key investor for next year's opening

An ambitious sports complex for high-performance athletes, the Sports Performance Hub (SPH), is taking shape in Homestead, Florida, with a new key investor bolstering its development. Faris Al Kooheji, CEO of ME&F Holdings and Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, has joined the project, providing crucial funding for its initial phase.

"Faris's arrival was very important. He becomes the last piece of the founding team, not only joining as an investor but bringing all his experience from the Asian Olympic Committee, his experience as an entrepreneur in the Middle East, and his knowledge of sports," announced Gastón Remy, the Argentine businessman and founder of the project. With funds now secured for the first stage, the team is preparing for a second round of financing to expedite completion.

The $280 million SPH, situated on over 37 hectares leased from the city of Homestead, is designed to be a state-of-the-art facility. It will include a 10,000-seat stadium expandable to 30,000, a 150-room hotel, advanced sports medicine and wellness services, and a secondary school with dormitories for athletes aged 13 to 19. The complex will also host multi-sport training academies and live entertainment, alongside residential and commercial developments.

The project's origins lie with a group of Argentine entrepreneurs and athletes, including basketball players Manu Ginóbili and Pepe Sanchez, tennis players Juan Monaco and Mariano Zabaleta, former NFL player Martin Gramatica, and footballers Juan Sebastian Verón and Darío Sala. They are joined by entrepreneurs Emiliano Fernández Balagué and Riccardo Silva, majority owner of Miami FC, and CEO Nick Sakiewicz, a seasoned American developer and executive.
