Arguing While Watching World Cup Final, 12 Individuals Detained

Twelve men, one as young as 15, were detained by police in Johor Bahru following a violent altercation at a restaurant in Taman Daya early this morning. The brawl is believed to have erupted during the World Cup final.

Johor Police Commissioner Datuk Ab. Rahaman Arsad stated that the arrests were made between 10 and 11 a.m. during a special operation conducted by the D7 Branch of the Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Headquarters' Criminal Investigation Department. The operation was launched after police received initial information about the disturbance, which occurred around 5:40 a.m.

Rahaman said in a statement. He added that a background check revealed three of the arrested individuals have previous criminal records.

A video circulating on social media, lasting 2 minutes and 36 seconds, appears to show the fight that broke out during the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina. The suspects are scheduled to be brought to the Magistrate's Court tomorrow for remand application proceedings to assist in the investigation under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with dangerous weapons.

Through background checks on all those detained, it was found that three of the suspects have a history of involvement in previous criminal cases.
