Ariana Grande Sues Hackers for Years of Leaking Music and Photos

Pop star Ariana Grande has filed a lawsuit against several individuals accused of unauthorized access to devices, leading to the prolonged leakage of her unreleased music, recording session materials, and video clips. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, alleges that the defendants engaged in phishing and other hacking maneuvers to illicitly steal, distribute, and profit from Grande's private content over several years.

Grande's legal team asserts that the hackers targeted the digital accounts of photographers and producers who worked closely with the singer. These individuals then allegedly sold the stolen data and content for substantial financial gain. The legal filing details specific instances, including hackers obtaining credentials for a photographer's Dropbox account in 2019 and compromising a producer's mobile device the following year.

As a result of these breaches, the hackers reportedly accessed master recordings, demo tracks, and other materials from recording sessions. In 2023, the group is accused of leaking approximately fifty of Grande's unreleased songs. The alleged scheme continued, with the defendants reportedly creating a fake Gmail account and domain impersonating a photographer to trick a technician into sending them photos belonging to Grande.

The lawsuit aims to hold the alleged hackers accountable for their actions, which have deprived the artist of control over her creative output and potentially impacted its commercial release. The case highlights the ongoing challenges artists face in protecting their intellectual property and personal data from cyber threats.
