Aribo, Onyekuru, Olayinka lead 2026/27 Eagles free agents

Several Super Eagles players are currently free agents as the 2026/27 football season approaches, with Joe Aribo, Henry Onyekuru, and Peter Olayinka leading the list of established Nigerian internationals searching for new clubs. The trio are among several other notable names who have become available following the expiration of their contracts.

Aribo, 30, is now a free agent after his contract with Southampton concluded without a new deal. The midfielder, who has also played for Rangers and Charlton Athletic, brings considerable experience from the Premier League and Scottish football. Onyekuru, 29, is also on the market after his contract with Turkish Super Lig side Genclerbirligi was mutually terminated. He is reportedly set to receive a settlement of approximately €940,000 after a difficult season where he failed to score or assist in 19 appearances.

Other players facing uncertain futures include David Okereke, who is in talks with Sampdoria after his contract with Cremonese expired. William Agada is reportedly close to returning to Israel's Ligat Ha’Al after his spell with Real Zaragoza ended. Okechukwu Azubuike, a standout performer at the 2016 Rio Olympics, is also without a club after leaving Turkish side Erzurumspor. Josh Maja, 27, remains available after his contract with West Bromwich Albion expired, with Championship clubs reportedly interested.
