Arizaga Expands Statement in Moyano Case; Restraining Order Remains

Candela Arizaga, 23, has again appeared before prosecutor Florencia Nocerez to expand on her statement regarding events of August 4th, when she was seen fleeing down a street, an episode she described as "a psychotic break."

Following a police officer's report that the young woman claimed to have been assaulted by her partner, former national deputy Facundo Moyano, 41, an investigation was opened into allegations of "minor injuries and unlawful deprivation of liberty" against him. Arizaga arrived with her lawyer, Roberto Herrera, who asserted that "there was no violence" and that Arizaga "never said that to the police," refuting the initial accounts from responding officers.

While Arizaga had initially indicated she would speak to the press after her statement, she later told television channels that prosecutor Nocerez had requested she not disclose the details of her expanded testimony. Her lawyer clarified that the new statement was not intended to alter her previous testimony but to provide further details.

Additionally, Arizaga reiterated her request for the lifting of the restraining order against Moyano, but prosecutor Nocerez rejected the plea, stating it was "not prudent" at this stage of the proceedings. The investigation has heard from 12 of the 14 witnesses requested by the prosecution, with the testimonies of Candela's mother and sister scheduled for August 31st. Judicial sources also confirmed that Arizaga met with the Office of Assistance to the Victim and Witness (OFAVyT) for legal, psychological, and social support.
