Woman Dies After Alleged Femicide Attack Following Argument with Boyfriend

A young woman in Salta, Argentina, died from severe injuries sustained after an alleged altercation with her boyfriend, leading to his arrest on suspicion of femicide. Cintia Díaz Orellana was found gravely injured in the street with a fractured skull, facial injuries, and other severe trauma.

According to the Salta Public Prosecutor's Office, Díaz Orellana and her partner, 26-year-old Gastón Ramírez, had been out dancing. A dispute reportedly erupted after leaving a nightclub, during which Ramírez allegedly attacked her with his fists and a blunt object. He is accused of then leaving her injured in the street before later reporting the incident to the police.

Díaz Orellana was initially taken to a hospital in Metán before being transferred to Salta city. Despite medical efforts, her condition was critical, and she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday morning. The case has caused significant shock in San José de Metán, the town where the incident occurred.

Ramírez was detained following his own report to the police. The investigation, led by prosecutor Nicolás Rodríguez López, is focused on reconstructing the events of Díaz Orellana's final hours to determine the precise circumstances of the attack. The legal classification of the charges against Ramírez is pending, but the accusation of femicide is being considered due to the nature of the alleged crime.
