Armed confrontation with police in Yaguachi leads to two arrests

Police in Yaguachi, Ecuador, arrested two individuals after an armed confrontation during an operation on the road to Virgen de Fátima. The suspects are allegedly linked to the criminal organization known as "Los Águilas."

The operation began when judicial police officers were conducting routine patrols in the area. According to police reports, alleged members of "Los Águilas" opened fire on the officers and attempted to flee.

One of the detainees is 19-year-old Axel Isaac L.R., identified by police as a suspected leader of the criminal group in the region. Records indicate he has prior arrests for extortion in Ecuador. The second individual apprehended was 48-year-old Luis Javier Q.Q., who reportedly attempted to attack an officer with a knife during the operation. He was subdued using legitimate force.

During the operation, police confiscated a .223 caliber rifle, a knife, a motorcycle, and ammunition, including a spent cartridge and casing. The two arrested individuals have been handed over to the competent authorities for judicial proceedings to determine their legal status.
