Armed group murders four family members in Tlapa, Guerrero; seven escape attack

A brutal attack by an armed group in Tlapa, Guerrero, Mexico, has left four members of a family dead, including a man, two women, and a young child. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning at a residence on Los Girasoles street in the Contlalco neighborhood.

According to police reports, the armed assailants stormed the family's home around 2:40 a.m. and opened fire. During the chaos, one woman and six minors managed to escape the deadly assault. Tragically, the attackers subsequently doused the home with gasoline and set it ablaze.

Firefighters and Civil Protection personnel responded to extinguish the fire, discovering the four charred bodies inside the residence. Forensic experts from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) secured the scene and conducted their investigation. The FGE released a brief statement about the crime eight hours after the incident.

Unofficial identifications suggest the victims were originally from the municipality of Cochoapa El Grande. The deceased have been identified as Teófilo, 48; Margarita, 46; Paulina, 75; and Erlan, 6. The seven survivors who escaped ranged in age from 10 to 18 years old.
