Army Major Martyred in North Waziristan Operation; Five Terrorists Killed

An army officer has been martyred during an intelligence-based operation in the Razmak area of North Waziristan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced Saturday. Major Hafiz Ihsan Elahi, 34, from Mianwali district, was leading his troops when he was killed. The military's media wing reported that security forces also eliminated five terrorists linked to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to by the state as Fitna al Khawarij.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the neutralized terrorists, who were reportedly involved in numerous attacks against security forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians. The ISPR affirmed that sanitization operations are underway to find and eliminate any other terrorists in the area. The statement emphasized the military's unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation, stating that "such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further reinforce our unwavering commitment of safeguarding our nation at all costs."

The operation aligns with the 'Azm-i-Istehkam' vision, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. This vision guides the relentless counter-terrorism campaign by Pakistan's security forces and law enforcement agencies to eradicate foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently reiterated the government's strategy to eliminate terrorist outfits like the TTP and others posing a threat to the country. Pakistan has experienced a rise in terrorist activities since the TTP ended its ceasefire in November 2022.
