CDF Munir says Pak-China friendship has remained steadfast amid evolving regional, global challenges

The enduring friendship between Pakistan and China is characterized as "unique, time-tested and has remained steadfast in the face of evolving regional and global challenges," according to Pakistan's Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir. He made these remarks during a ceremony commemorating the 99th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

China's Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, was the guest of honor at the event, which was also attended by China's Defence Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior military officers from Pakistan's tri-services. Field Marshal Munir extended a warm welcome to the guests and congratulated the PLA on its anniversary, paying tribute to its contributions to China's defense, national development, and international peace and security.

The Chinese ambassador, in turn, expressed appreciation for Pakistan hosting the event. He acknowledged the significant contributions and sacrifices of the Pakistan armed forces in counter-terrorism efforts and reiterated China's unwavering support for Pakistan and its commitment to strengthening their "all-weather strategic cooperative partnership."
