Arrest as girl, 8, injured in Co Tyrone quad bike crash

A man has been arrested after a serious collision in County Tyrone left an eight-year-old girl and another man with significant injuries.

The incident occurred on the Edergole Road in Omagh around 7:05 p.m. yesterday, involving a van and a quad bike. Emergency services transported both the child and the man, who are in their 40s, to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

A man, aged in his 40s, and eight-year-old female child, both sustained serious injuries and were taken onward to hospital for further treatment.

Police confirmed that the 26-year-old van driver was taken into custody on suspicion of multiple offenses. These include driving with excess alcohol in his breath and causing grievous bodily injury by driving carelessly while under the influence. He remains in custody as inquiries continue.

The road has since reopened following investigations. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information to come forward.
