Arrest in Smederevo: Used gas pistol on minors in elementary school yard, hitting one in the hand

Authorities in Smederevo, Serbia, have arrested a 24-year-old man identified as U.R. on suspicion of causing general danger. The arrest followed an incident where the suspect allegedly fired a gas pistol at a group of minors following an argument.

The incident reportedly took place in the courtyard of an elementary school. According to police, after a verbal and physical altercation with the minors, the suspect went home, retrieved a gas pistol with a metal BBs, and returned to the school's vicinity. He is accused of firing several shots from the pistol towards the minors, hitting one of them in the hand.

Following the shooting, the suspect allegedly returned home, left the pistol, and then headed back towards the schoolyard. Upon seeing a police patrol, he attempted to escape first on a scooter and then on foot. However, police officers quickly apprehended him.

During a search of the suspect's home, the gas pistol and its magazine containing 11 metal BBs were found and seized. The suspect has been detained for up to 48 hours pending further investigation and will be brought before the prosecutor's office with a criminal complaint.
