Arrested mayor's prison transfer changed twice, lawyers search for her

Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş, arrested as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in construction permits and bribery, faced a confusing and prolonged transfer process between prisons. Initially slated for Silivri Prison, her lawyers were informed en route that she would be moved to Bakırköy.

Having listened carefully to all the views, it has become clear that the project has created divisions of a nature that, regardless of the level of support, are no longer in the interest of the objective set out in the first place.

Upon arriving at Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison on Saturday morning, her legal team discovered Dedetaş had not been brought there. They learned she had been transferred to Tekirdağ Karatepe Women's Closed Prison, a piece of information that had only recently been shared with her husband.

Dedetaş was among four individuals arrested yesterday evening as part of an investigation into allegations of "irregularities in construction permit and occupancy certificate processes" and "bribery, embezzlement, and organizing a criminal group." Two other individuals were released under judicial control.
