Arsenal-Chelsea: Ødegaard orchestrates, Acheampong and Palmer fall short in a hard-fought derby

Martin Ødegaard produced the performance of a Premier League captain as Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 in an animated derby. The Norwegian midfielder controlled the center of the pitch, influenced the game with almost every touch and fully embraced his role as Arsenal's No. 10.

His display peaked with a superb team goal. Ødegaard stayed composed in front of Emiliano Martínez to give Arsenal the winner and complete a performance that made him the match's chief conductor.

Kai Havertz also made the difference. The German striker scored Arsenal's equalizer in the 25th minute, stayed active throughout and repeatedly troubled Chelsea's defense. His intelligent movement and sharp vision culminated in a clever feint that put the ball on a plate for Ødegaard.

Martínez kept Chelsea alive with decisive saves in the 69th and 72nd minutes. The summer arrival showed strength on his line, speed close to the ground and sharp reflexes, but his work could not earn Chelsea a result at the Emirates.

Josh Acheampong struggled in Chelsea's defensive line. He was poorly positioned, often late and passive, particularly on Arsenal's winning goal. Cole Palmer also failed to impose himself as Chelsea's playmaker, misplacing passes and making poor decisions. João Pedro and Pedro Neto were frequently isolated in attack, while Palmer's attempted crosses rarely found a teammate.
