Arsenal vs. Chelsea puts Caicedo and Hincapié under the spotlight

Arsenal and Chelsea will meet in one of the most attractive matches of the Premier League's third round, with Ecuadorian attention focused on Moisés Caicedo and Piero Hincapié. It remains uncertain whether the two players will share the pitch at Emirates Stadium.

Caicedo remains a doubt for Chelsea after suffering physical discomfort dating back to late August. He missed two matches and, after returning against Brighton, lasted only 12 minutes before feeling further problems. Chelsea coach Xabi Alonso said the midfielder would undergo another assessment during training on Saturday, September 5.

Alonso said there was no concern about Caicedo's condition, but Chelsea does not want to rush his recovery. The club will make its decision after observing how he develops.

Hincapié's situation is different. The Arsenal defender is still waiting for a place in the starting lineup. He remained on the bench for the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa and has played only nine official Premier League minutes this season. Riccardo Calafiori remains the first choice on the left, although Hincapié can operate both as a central defender and a left-back.

Both teams enter the derby with two victories. Chelsea defeated Fulham away and then beat Brighton at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal also won both of its opening games and has yet to concede, beating Aston Villa 1-0 through Bukayo Saka's goal. The match offers Caicedo and Hincapié another chance to take a larger role, depending on the decisions of their coaching staffs.
