Arson Attacks in Jamaica's Rock River Leave Residents on Edge; Police Seek Suspect

The St. Mary police are actively seeking a man for questioning regarding a string of suspected arson attacks that have unsettled the Rock River community. Residents are on edge following multiple incidents that occurred in the early hours of Friday and Saturday.

The first incident, around 3:00 am on Friday, saw flames engulf two vehicles and a business establishment. Despite efforts to control the blaze, the property and vehicles were destroyed. The business is reportedly owned by a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Later the same morning, around 6:00 am, another business in the community was targeted. Quick action by residents prevented the fire from spreading significantly, limiting the damage to minor.

The suspected attacks continued into early Saturday morning, around 3:00 am, when a three-bedroom board house was set ablaze. Firefighters and residents battled the fire, which spread to a neighboring concrete house under construction. The board house and an outside kitchen were completely destroyed, with extensive damage to the concrete structure and its contents.

Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding these fires to determine if they are connected. The total value of the damage is still being assessed.
