Arson near railway line on Rhine riverbank

Authorities in Wiesbaden are seeking two individuals suspected of arson after a fire erupted along the Rhine riverbank in the Kastel district. The blaze consumed about 1,400 square meters of grassland near the Lachebrücke bridge, an area adjacent to railway tracks.

Law enforcement officials reported that surveillance footage from a fire department drone captured two male figures fleeing the scene as rescue teams arrived. These individuals are now the primary suspects in setting the grassland ablaze. The fire department successfully extinguished the fire, preventing further spread.

This incident marks the second time in early August that a fire has occurred at this specific location. Police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist their investigation and are asking potential witnesses to come forward. The motive behind the suspected arson remains unclear.
