As dangerous disease spreads in Europe, specialists issue advice for travelers

West Nile virus activity in Europe has been unusually high this year. Greece has already recorded hundreds of infections and dozens of deaths, while public health specialists there warn that cases could increase in the coming weeks.

Lithuania has not detected any cases so far. However, people traveling to southern and central Europe are being advised to protect themselves from mosquito bites.

As the virus spreads more actively across Europe, Lithuania also plans to begin monitoring it.
