AS Monaco denied French professional league participation after appeal fails

The basketball club AS Monaco faces a significant setback after its appeal to overturn a ban from French professional leagues was rejected. The Appeals Committee of the French Federation confirmed the initial decision, meaning the team, known as La Roca Team, will not compete in either Betclic Elite or Elite 2 during the 2026/27 season.

The club failed to submit the necessary financial documents and guarantees to the relevant authorities by the stipulated deadlines. Despite an extension granted until July 31 to finalize a financial recovery plan, the committee deemed the submitted information insufficient to allow the club's continued participation in French championships.

This decision comes as a blow to the team, which had seemingly been working towards a rescue plan. The case remains somewhat open as the club may still pursue an appeal with the National Council for Sport and Olympic Mediation (CNOSF). A social media post from BeBasket highlighted the situation, noting that the club was unable to produce the requested documents within the given timeframe.
