Aspiring lawyers need deep knowledge of law and facts, says ICT chief prosecutor

Becoming a proficient lawyer demands more than just academic study of law books, International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam asserted.

Islam emphasized that a thorough grasp of case specifics, the intricacies of the investigation process, and all pertinent evidence are crucial for legal professionals. He highlighted the necessity for lawyers to cultivate strong reasoning abilities, maintain an inquisitive mindset, demonstrate professional competence, and adhere to high ethical standards.

These insights were shared during a criminal trial advocacy workshop titled “The Art of Cross-Examination.” The event was organized by the Law Club of Manarat International University at its permanent campus in Ashulia Model Town. Professor Mohammad Abdur Rob, vice-chancellor of the university, also attended as a guest of honor.

The workshop, chaired by Abdullah Hil Gani, head of the Department of Law, included ICT prosecutors Marzina Raihan Madina, Mohammad Zahirul Amin, Shyikh Mahdi, and SM Tasmirul Islam as special guests. Following the inauguration, students from the Department of Law participated in a demonstration trial, applying the principles discussed during the workshop.
