Asunción needs change and beautification, supermarket association tells mayoral candidate

The Paraguayan Chamber of Supermarkets (Capasu) has called on Camilo Pérez, a candidate for mayor of Asunción, to champion the "change" the capital desperately needs. Capasu emphasized the importance of revitalizing the city's appearance and economic dynamism.

This appeal follows a similar meeting with Soledad Núñez, a candidate from the opposition alliance. Capasu had urged Núñez to address critical issues such as improving waste management, enhancing fumigation programs, and ensuring predictability for investments and infrastructure projects. These concerns highlight the perceived shortcomings under the current administration, led by members of the same political party as Pérez.

Gustavo Lezcano, president of Capasu, described Pérez's project as "very interesting for the change that Asunción really needs." He expressed the association's readiness to collaborate with Pérez, the private sector, and the public sector to "re-beautify" the city and stimulate the commercial activity essential for Asunción's growth and the quality of services provided by supermarkets.

In response, Pérez affirmed his commitment to building a municipal government that listens, dialogues, and resolves issues. He promised to eliminate unnecessary obstacles, increase transparency, reduce bureaucracy, and work continuously with business associations. His goal is to restore Asunción's competitiveness, orderliness, and attractiveness for investment, ensuring a better environment for all residents.
