Asunción sets June 30 deadline for vehicle habilitation renewal

Residents of Asunción, Paraguay, are reminded that the deadline to renew their vehicle habilitation, or registration, is fast approaching on June 30. Failure to complete this process by the end of the month will result in administrative sanctions and potential fines for drivers operating their vehicles on public roads.

The mandatory vehicle habilitation requires passing an Inspección Técnica Vehicular (ITV), or technical inspection. However, vehicles manufactured within the last three years – specifically those from 2024, 2025, and 2026 – are exempt from the physical inspection requirement. This exemption aims to ease the burden for owners of newer vehicles.

To accommodate citizens and minimize wait times, the Asunción municipality has established three service points. The company Ivesur, located on Salvador Bogado street, offers both the ITV and the payment of the corresponding fees. Similarly, Coarco S.A.C.I., situated on Teniente Rolón Viera street, provides the same services: technical inspection and fee payment.

For vehicle owners whose cars are exempt from the physical inspection, the Directorate of Transit at the Municipal Palace (Block C, Mariscal López Avenue) offers a dedicated service. All three centers operate with unified hours: Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Saturdays from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Keeping vehicle habilitation updated, along with a valid driver's license, is crucial for avoiding costly penalties.
