At Arise Town Hall, Adeleke, Oyebamiji, Salaam Unveil Plans for Osun State

The race for Osun State governor intensified as the three main contenders faced off at an Arise News town hall, outlining their visions for the state. Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke defended his three-and-a-half-year tenure, emphasizing his administration's achievements in infrastructure, particularly road construction, and investments in education, healthcare, and security. He claimed his government fixed roads neglected for over 45 years and recruited more than 1,500 Amotekun security staff.

Adeleke also addressed allegations of substandard road construction, asserting that certified Nigerian and international engineers ensured quality. He stated that his administration has completed approximately 350 kilometers of roads, with another 150 kilometers currently under construction, and highlighted the installation of solar lights across the state as a contributor to economic activity.

There are some roads that I visited that have been abandoned for more than 45 years, some 35 years, I said it’s not acceptable. I fixed it, and I promise that Osun State money will stay in Osun, and it’s been happening.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, presented himself as an expert in investment and public finance, pledging to revitalize the state's agriculture, education, and health sectors. Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Dr. Najeem Salaam, promised to revive past social programs and create 20,000 youth jobs within his first 100 days in office.

The election, scheduled for Saturday, August 15, has been a focal point of intense political attention, marked by accusations of violence, arrests, and federal interference among major political factions. The town hall provided a platform for voters to assess the candidates' platforms ahead of the crucial vote.
