At least 27 dead, 42 injured in Russian drone attack near Kyiv

At least 27 people were killed and 42 others injured, including four children, in a Russian drone attack targeting the Bucha area near Kyiv. Local authorities reported the casualties following the incident, which also led to the evacuation of 381 residents.

The attack involved a drone striking a warehouse, igniting a significant fire and triggering subsequent explosions. The blaze rapidly spread to adjacent residential buildings and a catering facility, exacerbating the damage and danger.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Telegram that the attack caused extensive damage to residential buildings and a nearby nursing home. In response, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office has initiated a pre-trial investigation. This probe aims to determine the legality of explosive material storage, permits, and the actions of responsible parties, suspecting negligence.

Russian attacks have continued to affect other parts of Ukraine. In Kherson, a man was killed and three others were injured in a separate drone attack. Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched 267 drones, an Iskander ballistic missile, and an Onyx anti-ship missile from Friday evening, with Ukrainian air defenses reportedly intercepting or disabling 233 of the drones. Both sides are escalating long-range attacks, increasingly targeting logistical and energy infrastructure.
