At least three dead in bomb attack at central Moscow restaurant

A bomb attack at a central Moscow restaurant on Saturday killed at least three people and injured 20 others, according to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC). The explosion was caused by a homemade bomb carried by a woman who tried to bring it into the Balzi Rossi establishment, located near the Russian capital's zoo. Among the dead were the woman, a security guard, and a customer. Witnesses told the Telegram channel Astra that a general was reportedly celebrating a birthday party at the restaurant. The bomb, with a power equivalent to nearly a kilogram of TNT, detonated remotely as the guard investigated the suspicious package carried by the woman, who was reportedly a delivery person, according to Kommersant newspaper. The blast injured 21 people and led to the cancellation of a night cycling event in the city center. Independent sources indicated the explosion occurred on the terrace where the party was taking place. Some reports suggested public figures and deputies of the State Duma had arrived in official vehicles. Ukrainian intelligence services have been accused of assassinating several Russian generals and high-ranking Ministry of Defense officials during the ongoing war.
