Athlete Narve Gilje Nordås opens door to reconciliation with Ingebrigtsen brothers

Narve Gilje Nordås has reached out to the Ingebrigtsen brothers, signaling a potential end to a bitter, years-long feud. Nordås stated he realizes he should have better understood the brothers' perspectives. He revealed having had "some nice conversations" with them recently, including during the recent national championships.

Nordås and the Ingebrigtsen brothers trained together for years under coach Gjert Ingebrigtsen before a family conflict fractured their training group. In July, Nordås and Gjert Ingebrigtsen ended their 13-year collaboration. Per Svela, also formerly part of the group, noted that the collaboration with Ingebrigtsen had become more taxing than rewarding, making the break necessary.

When asked by Stavanger Aftenblad if he would consider working with the brothers again, Nordås replied, "I don't want to impose on them – I understand it might be difficult given the history." However, he added, "If they invited me for a hard training session together, I wouldn't say no." He also expressed contentment with his current individual training setup with coach Per Svela and potential collaboration with Kieran Lumb.

Filip Ingebrigtsen responded to Nordås's gesture, telling Stavanger Aftenblad, "We had a brief dialogue during the national championships, as Narve said. It was nice, and we really appreciate him reaching out." He added, "We have understood that perhaps there is more behind it than Erlend Slokvik initially reported, and I truly hope Narve finds peace and joy in competing again."

Both Nordås and the Ingebrigtsen brothers, Jakob and Filip, are scheduled to compete at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. Gjert Ingebrigtsen is also expected to be present, listed as a coach for middle-distance runner José Carlos Pinto by the Portuguese Athletics Federation.
