Atiku Abubakar wins ADC presidential primary in Osun

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has emerged as the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State, following his victory in the party's primary election. The exercise, held at the ADC secretariat in Abuja, saw Abubakar secure a commanding lead.

Abubakar garnered 12,321 votes out of a total of 17,000 cast in the primary. He decisively defeated his closest rival, Hayatu Deen Muhammed, who polled 4,000 votes. Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, trailed in third place with 679 votes.

The results, declared by the electoral committee chairman Olusola Adepoju, indicated that Abubakar's victory was comprehensive, as he won in all 30 local government areas within Osun State. This outcome positions him as the ADC's flagbearer for the upcoming presidential elections.

According to a statement released by Oluwaseun Abosede, the spokesperson for Osun ADC, Abubakar's win signifies strong support within the state chapter of the party. The primary election process was overseen by the designated committee, confirming the validity of the votes and the final results.
