Atlas host Atlante in Liga MX clash with top-two hopes at stake

Atlas and Atlante meet at Jalisco Stadium in the third and final Saturday match of the Mexican league’s seventh round. The two teams enter the fixture in sharply different positions after the first third of the Liga MX Apertura 2026 season.

Hernán Crespo’s Atlas are temporarily fifth with 12 points. A victory would lift the Guadalajara side into second place, leaving it one point behind league leaders América, who still have a match in hand. That makes the game especially important for Atlas and its hopes of remaining in the playoff places.

The Rojinegros also want to return to winning ways after losing 3-1 to Querétaro last week. Atlante, meanwhile, sit 15th and need points to avoid falling further down the table.

The Potros de Hierro last defeated Cruz Azul 3-2, but they have failed to win in their next three matches. That run includes draws against Toluca and León and a defeat by Tigres. Miguel Herrera’s team cannot afford to keep dropping points and must quickly turn the page.
