Attack on Adeleke’s convoy: Police reportedly recover thugs’ operational vehicle

Police in Osogbo, Osun State, have reportedly recovered a vehicle believed to have been used by political thugs during an attack on Governor Ademola Adeleke's convoy. Personnel from the Violent Crimes Response Unit (VCRU) tracked the vehicle, a Toyota Sienna, to the Gbeja area in Oke-Baale, Osogbo.

Sources indicated that the occupants of the recovered vehicle had fled the scene before the police arrived. Among the exhibits found were Accord party campaign insignia. The police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, declined to comment on the ongoing investigation but stated that a media briefing would be provided in due course.

This ugly development has accentuated the long-standing position of the Osun State APC that the people of the state are increasingly being exposed to political thuggery and violence perpetrated by hoodlums associated with the Governor’s political camp.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has reacted to the incident, urging Governor Adeleke to control the party's thugs and prevent the state from descending into crisis. The APC alleged that the gang leader, Taoreed Ademola, also known as "small rugged," was released from prison by the state government and subsequently led the attack on the governor's convoy.

"This ugly development has accentuated the long-standing position of the Osun State APC that the people of the state are increasingly being exposed to political thuggery and violence perpetrated by hoodlums associated with the Governor’s political camp," the APC said in a statement by Remi Omowaye. The party called on Governor Adeleke to demonstrate leadership by immediately restraining his supporters and appointees, emphasizing his responsibility to ensure political disagreements do not escalate into violence.
