'Attempt to murder me': Kalyan Banerjee's big allegations after 'attack' by 'BJP goons with saffron clothes'

Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee has accused the BJP of an "attempt to murder" him after he was allegedly struck by a stone during a protest by BJP supporters in Hooghly district. Banerjee, who was on his way to meet the officer in charge of the Chanditala police station, claimed that BJP activists wearing saffron clothes shouted slogans and created a hostile atmosphere before throwing a stone that hit his head.

Banerjee pointed fingers at Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, calling him a "jealous chief minister who is autocrat and who wants to kill the Trinamool leaders." He asserted that Adhikari is "the main man behind all this incident yesterday and my incident. He is a killer. Democracy is gone in 25 days."

This alleged attack follows a similar incident the previous day, where TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee sustained minor injuries after being reportedly attacked with stones and eggs in Sonarpur, South 24 Parganas district. He had gone to meet the families affected by post-poll violence. The repeated alleged attacks on TMC leaders have intensified political tensions in West Bengal.
