Attorney General Replaces Director of Investigation at Special Crimes Unit

Indonesia's Attorney General, Sanitiar Burhanuddin, has initiated a significant reshuffling of top officials within the special crimes directorate. The changes affect key positions, including the Director of Investigation, the Director of Operations, and two coordinators responsible for handling special criminal cases.

These personnel movements are formalized in the Attorney General's Decree Number 831 of 2026, dated July 22, 2026. The decree mandates the dismissal and appointment of 29 civil servant officials within the Attorney General's Office.

Anang Supriatna, Head of the Legal Information Center at the Attorney General's Office, confirmed the rotations. He explained that such mutations are standard practice for career development and organizational refreshment. Supriatna added that the changes also aim to fill vacant positions to ensure the smooth delivery of services, particularly in law enforcement and public service.

Among the notable appointments, Rinaldi Umar, formerly Deputy Head of the Banten High Prosecutor's Office, now leads the Directorate of Investigation, replacing Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi. Syarief has been reassigned to a new role as Director III in the Directorate General of Intelligence. Other positions, such as the Director of Operations for Special Crimes and various coordinator roles, have also seen new leadership. These changes follow a Presidential Decree concerning the appointment of several leadership positions within the Attorney General's Office.
