Aubameyang gives Deportivo shine against a poor Valencia

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brought the brightest moment to a 3-1 Deportivo victory over Valencia, scoring for the third consecutive match after returning to Spain’s top division.

Deportivo began with energy, controlling possession and disrupting Valencia’s play. The opening goal arrived in the 12th minute, when a corner from Luismi Cruz struck César Tárrega and went into Valencia’s own goal. Four minutes later, Aubameyang doubled the lead.

Valencia responded through Umar Sadiq in the 25th minute, but the visitors struggled to build sustained attacks. Deportivo restored its two-goal advantage in the 58th minute when Mouctar Diakhaby scored an own goal.

The match also marked a return to a more familiar atmosphere at Riazor. A protest by the stadium’s most vocal supporters continued until the 12th minute after a difficult summer involving the club and that section of the stands. Once the crowd began to awaken, the team’s strong start helped reconnect the players and supporters.

Deportivo remain unbeaten since returning to the top flight. Valencia, by contrast, continue to search for their first victory.
