Auger-Aliassime advances at Wimbledon, to face Davidovich next

Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the third seed, advanced to the Wimbledon Round of 16 with a comfortable victory over American Michael Zheng. The world number four secured the win in straight sets, 7-6(1), 6-2, 6-1, in a match that lasted one hour and 54 minutes.

Zheng, a qualifier who had won five consecutive matches to reach this stage, offered resistance only in the first set. Auger-Aliassime clinched the tiebreaker and then dominated the remainder of the match. He will now face Spanish player Alejandro Davidovich in the next round.

Both Auger-Aliassime and Davidovich have reached the fourth round without losing a set. This will be their fifth career meeting, but their first on grass. Auger-Aliassime won the first three encounters, but Davidovich emerged victorious in their most recent match at the 2025 Australian Open, their only previous Grand Slam clash. Auger-Aliassime's best result at Wimbledon was reaching the quarterfinals in 2021.
