The Korean Red Cross has initiated an urgent nationwide fundraising drive to support those affected by a powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10. The collected funds will be directed towards critical relief efforts, including search and rescue operations, healthcare services, temporary housing, and ensuring access to clean water and sanitation for the affected population.

In a cultural commemoration, the Presidential Archives are hosting a special exhibition titled 'Gifts and Records, 140 Years of Friendship' until September 13. This exhibition celebrates the 140th anniversary of diplomatic ties between South Korea and France, tracing the historical relationship through diplomatic records and cultural heritage artifacts since the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Commerce.

The Daegu Kansong Art Museum is set to unveil a significant exhibition dedicated to the renowned Joseon Dynasty painter, Jeong Seon. Opening on August 16 and running until December 27, the exhibition, 'Jeong Seon - Painting Joseon Through Joseon's Eyes,' will showcase approximately 200 of his works, including notable pieces like 'Geumgang Jeondo' and 'Yeosanchodang.' The display aims to offer a comprehensive look at Jeong Seon's life and artistic legacy.

Additionally, the Korean Association of Law Professors, in collaboration with other legal societies and research centers, will hold a joint academic conference on judicial system reforms at Ajou University on August 20. The conference will delve into topics such as the institution of trial appeals, the stabilization of the crime of legal distortion, the necessity of specialized courts, and improvements in legal education.
