Australia stun South Africa 26-19 to win Valladolid 7s

Australia staged a remarkable comeback to defeat South Africa 26-19, clinching the Valladolid 7s title and ending a trophy drought of more than 1,300 days. The victory marks Australia's first HSBC SVNS tournament win in over three years.

South Africa initially dominated, scoring two tries within the first three minutes through Shilton van Wyk and Sebastiaan Jobb to take a 14-0 lead. However, Australia responded before halftime with tries from James Turner and Ethan McFarland, leveling the score.

In the second half, Ben Dowling and Henry Hutchison crossed the try line to put Australia in control. Australia's challenge intensified when Turner received a red card late in the game. South Africa capitalized immediately with a try from Gino Cupido, but it was disallowed for a forward pass, sealing Australia's victory.

Australia's women's team also secured a title, defeating the USA 27-14. Meanwhile, South Africa, despite this setback, maintains its lead in the World Championship standings ahead of the final event in Bordeaux.
