Austria weather: Weekend to be friendlier with temperatures up to 27C

Austria can expect a warmer and sunnier weekend after a cool and cloudy Friday. Temperatures are forecast to climb to 27 degrees Celsius by Sunday, according to Geosphere Austria.

Friday will start with sunshine in the south and east, but clouds will gather from the northwest, bringing rain to western regions by midday. Winds will be brisk in the north and east. Early temperatures will range from five to 13 degrees, with highs reaching 14 to 22 degrees.

Saturday will see some lingering clouds and rain along the main Alpine ridge and in the north and east, accompanied by strong westerly winds. However, showers are expected to decrease, giving way to more sunshine. The southern Alps will enjoy clearer skies and warmer temperatures. Overnight lows will be eight to 16 degrees, with daytime highs from 20 to 26 degrees.

Sunday promises more sunshine, though clouds may develop in the afternoon north of the Alps, bringing showers. The south and southeast could see cumulonimbus clouds producing localized thunderstorms. Winds will be lively in the pre-Alpine regions and the eastern part of the country. Morning temperatures will be between seven and 16 degrees, with highs reaching 18 to 27 degrees.
