Author Murat Koparan Died by Suicide, Investigation Reveals

Author Murat Koparan died by suicide, according to an investigation into his death. The 37-year-old writer was found dead from a gunshot wound in his villa in Istanbul's Üsküdar district on August 25.

Investigators determined that Koparan had a phone conversation with his ex-wife on the same day he died. Following this call, he reportedly took his own life. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing.

Details emerged that Koparan's ex-wife, Elif Feyza Y., contacted the police after hearing a gunshot during their phone conversation. Emergency services and police were dispatched to the villa, where they found Koparan deceased in a bathroom on the third floor. An unlicensed firearm was reportedly found at the scene.

Koparan, who was a father of four children, had been living in the villa, which had been vacant for a long time. His funeral prayer was held at the Fatih Edirnekapı Mihrimah Sultan Mosque, after which he was laid to rest.
