Authorities Arrest “Baldo,” Alleged CJNG Operator Linked to Extortion of Cattle Ranchers in Colima

Security authorities in Colima arrested Oswaldo Rafael “N,” known as “Baldo,” whom the state government identifies as an alleged regional operator of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, or CJNG. Officials consider him a priority target because of his possible ties to extortion targeting cattle ranchers in Cuauhtémoc.

Authorities are also investigating his alleged participation in serious crimes and violent incidents in the state. These include a Sept. 24, 2025, shooting attack against an officer of the Colima state prosecutor’s office.

The operation followed intelligence work and coordination among several agencies. Authorities said they exchanged, analyzed and acted on information to locate the target before carrying out the arrest. The intervention took place in a controlled manner, and the suspect did not resist.

The operation involved the Mexican Navy, through its Naval Intelligence units and Special Operations Unit, together with the Attorney General’s Office, its Criminal Investigation Agency, and the public security authorities of Colima and the federal government.

Colima’s public security secretary said the arrest reflected an operating model strengthened in the state: turning information into intelligence and intelligence into concrete action against those who generate violence. Authorities urged cattle ranchers and other residents of Cuauhtémoc who may have suffered extortion, threats or other alleged crimes connected to the suspect to file reports. Investigations continue, and judicial and prosecutorial bodies will determine his possible role in the incidents under review and his legal status.
