Azahar Hassan Joins Wawasan Negara Party After Quitting Bersatu

Azahar Hassan, a key figure in the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (Bersatu) and a member of the Dewan Negara (Senate), has declared his immediate resignation from the party. Hassan announced his decision to join the Wawasan Negara party, led by Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, stating his belief that it is a multi-ethnic party capable of leading Malaysia toward a better future.

His departure from Bersatu, where he held the position of Deputy Head of the Kangar Division, was effective immediately. Hassan, however, will continue his duties as a member of the Dewan Negara, emphasizing his commitment to his responsibilities to the people of Perlis state. He indicated that his decision followed extensive consideration, due diligence, and deep introspection regarding the current political landscape.

Hassan also pointed to internal conflicts and the dismissal of Bersatu leaders as significant factors contributing to a decline in grassroots confidence. "Because of that, many are starting to leave the party because they have lost confidence, especially the grassroots who are very disappointed," he explained, suggesting a broader disillusionment within the party's base.
