Aziz İhsan Aktaş trial adjourned to August 24

The trial concerning the Aziz İhsan Aktaş organized crime group, which includes 200 defendants, seven of whom are currently detained and seven are suspended mayors, reached its 59th hearing. During this session, the court heard the final statements from the defense teams regarding the prosecution's core arguments.

The proceedings took place at the Istanbul 1st High Criminal Court, located opposite the Marmara Closed Penitentiary. Lawyers representing the defendants, including those for Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat who is currently suspended from his duties, presented their defenses. They argued for their clients' acquittal and release, contesting the allegations related to the alleged criminal activities.

With the completion of the defense statements, all defendants and their legal representatives have now presented their arguments against the prosecution's main opinion. This marks a significant stage in the lengthy legal process.

Presiding Judge Oğuzhan Gül announced that the court's decision will be delivered on August 24. He sternly warned all lawyers that their presence is mandatory on this date, stating that failure to attend could lead to potential charges of 'dereliction of duty.' The hearing was subsequently adjourned until August 24.
