Azman Appointed New CEO of AKPK

The Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) has appointed Azman Hasim as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with the appointment taking effect immediately. Azman has been serving as the acting CEO since January 1, 2026, a role he assumed after the retirement of the previous CEO, Azaddin Ngah Tasir. This transition ensures a smooth handover and continuity in the agency's strategic direction.

Azman brings a wealth of experience to his new role, boasting over three decades in the financial services industry and nearly 20 years of dedicated service at AKPK. In his previous position as General Manager of Corporate Development, he spearheaded significant transformation initiatives. These efforts focused on accelerating digitalization, enhancing organizational capabilities, and improving operational efficiency, all of which have strengthened AKPK's capacity to meet the evolving financial needs of individuals and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Chairman of AKPK, Fauziah Hisham, along with the board of directors, expressed strong confidence in Azman's leadership. "With his extensive experience, strategic insights, and deep understanding of AKPK's mandate, Azman is well-positioned to lead the organization into its next phase of growth and impact," Fauziah stated.

As CEO, Azman is expected to drive the implementation of AKPK's long-term strategic priorities. His focus will be on strengthening financial capabilities, expanding access to advisory and debt management services, and intensifying outreach programs to underserved communities. His leadership aims to support AKPK's mission of empowering Malaysians to make informed financial decisions, build financial resilience, and achieve sustainable financial well-being throughout their lives. Azman holds a degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, UK, and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), and a Registered Syariah Financial Planner.
