Bac Ninh Student’s Math Score Halved After Copying From Province’s Top D01 Candidate

Bac Ninh has annulled the 2026 high school graduation exam results of the province’s top D01 candidate after an investigation found that an invigilator helped the student complete a mathematics test.

The student, identified as H.P.N., had previously been recognized as Bac Ninh’s top candidate in the D01 combination of mathematics, literature and English. Another candidate, N.T.T.N., sat nearby and copied H.P.N.’s math paper.

The Bac Ninh Department of Education and Training annulled H.P.N.’s results on Aug. 25 for violating examination rules. After seeking guidance from the Ministry of Education and Training, it decided on Aug. 28 to deduct 50% from N.T.T.N.’s math score. Her mark fell from 9.5 to 4.75.

The department said the decisions followed an official verification prompted by reports on social media after the 2026 exam results were released. Authorities will take action against the invigilator involved under the regulations. H.P.N. remains eligible to register for the 2027 graduation exam, while Bac Ninh officials said they would reinforce examination procedures and compliance among staff.
