‘Bachelorette’ star Joe Amabile reveals ‘early stage’ brain tumour diagnosis

Reality television personality Joe Amabile, widely known as 'Grocery Store Joe' from 'The Bachelorette' and 'Bachelor in Paradise,' has shared a significant personal health update. Amabile revealed on Instagram that doctors discovered a lesion in his brain, which appears to be an early-stage glioma, a type of brain tumor.

So a little medical update… they ended up finding a lesion in my brain so then I had to go get a brain MRI. There was a blueberry-size lesion in my brain that looks to be a glioma which is a tumour.

Amabile detailed his diagnosis in a video posted Monday, explaining that the lesion is about the size of a blueberry. He is scheduled for brain surgery next week to remove it and have it tested. "It's been a wild couple of weeks. I definitely wasn't expecting this," he stated, reflecting on the unexpected nature of his diagnosis. He added, "I think it's one of those things where you're like something like this would never happen to me and here I am."

I now need to get brain surgery next week to get it removed and get it tested.

The 40-year-old reality star expressed optimism, noting that doctors described the tumor as being in its early stages. "I hope they are able to get it all and I'm fine but I will keep you updated," he told his followers. Amabile also acknowledged the emotional toll, writing in his caption that the past month has involved "a lot of ups and downs." He is focusing on staying positive and embracing this new journey.

His wife, Canadian reality star Serena Pitt, offered her support in the comments, writing, "You're so strong and we're going to get through this together. I love you."
