Back to school treat: Train offers free rides again for top students

Students in Bavaria with outstanding academic performance are set to receive a special reward as the railway company DB Regio offers free travel on regional trains to celebrate the start of summer vacation.

The railway wants to reward all students with 'outstanding achievements'.

The initiative, designed to recognize students' hard work, allows those who have achieved at least one 'A' grade on their report card to travel for free on all regional trains within Bavaria on Monday, August 3rd. The offer is valid from midnight to midnight, providing a full day of complimentary travel.

To take advantage of this promotion, students must present a copy of their report card along with a valid personal, child, or student identification card. DB Regio emphasized that the offer aims to reward students with "outstanding achievements," acknowledging that excellence is not solely reflected in grades but also in "corresponding verbal assessments."

Beyond Bavaria's borders, the free travel offer extends to select routes in neighboring regions. Students can travel to destinations such as Lauda, Crailsheim, and Ulm in Baden-Württemberg; Sonneberg in Thuringia; Salzburg, Kufstein, and Reutte in Austria (via the Außerfern Railway); and along the Memmingen – Wangen – Hergatz line. This expansion allows students to explore new places, enjoy time with friends and family, and take a well-deserved break from their studies.
